NOTICE OF FILING FOR THE 2026 GENERAL ELECTION
 GOOD THUNDER, MINNESOTA

Notice is hereby given pursuant to MN Statute 204B.33 that a General Election will be held by mail in ballot on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for the purpose of electing candidates for the offices listed below. The filing period for these offices begins at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and ends at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026.  

Candidates for the following offices file with the City of Good Thunder, 130 S. Ewing Street, Good Thunder, MN 56037. A filing fee of $2.00 shall be paid to the city clerk when filing.

Mayor: (1 Position – 2-year term)
Council Member: (2 Positions – 4-year terms)

Blue Earth County Board Summary
The Blue Earth County Board meeting was held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Blue Earth County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Room, was attended by Commissioners Kip Bruender, Patty O’Connor, Kevin Paap, Mark Piepho and Vance Stuehrenberg.  Also present were County Administrator Joshua W. Milow, County Attorney Pat McDermott, and Administrative Assistant Stephanie Jahnke.

Commissioners voted 5-0, unless otherwise noted:

• Approve the Findings and Order approving the Redetermination of Benefits for Judicial Ditch 33 (McPherson Township). 
• Approve the Findings and Order establishing the improvement for Judicial Ditch 33 (McPherson Township). 
• Approve the resolution to finance for Judicial Ditch 33 (McPherson Township). 
• Approve the Findings and Order approving the redetermination of benefits for County Ditch 64 (Sterling Township). 
• Approve the findings and order accepting the repair contract for Judicial Ditch 15 (Lincoln Township). 
• Accept the low bid from R & E Enterprises of Mankato for the Judicial Ditch 32 repair (Pleasant Mound Township). 
• Approve the Findings and Order setting the final hearing for County Ditch 51 (Ceresco Township).

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Mapleton, Minnesota, will hold a public hearing on a proposed property tax abatement pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 469.1813.
The proposed abatement relates to property located at 216 Main St. NE, Mapleton, Minnesota
56065, Parcel Identification Number Rl 5.24.04.255.020. The proposed abatement is being considered for the purpose of the development of the property and the creation of jobs at Three
Brothers Meat Market. The proposed abatement is estimated not to exceed $17,150.00 over a term of five years.
The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. at the Mapleton Fire
Station, 103 3rd Avenue N.E., Mapleton, Minnesota.
All interested persons may appear at the hearing and present oral or written comments regarding the proposed abatement.

CITY OF MAPLETON
SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 152.031 -ADMINISTRATIVE LOT SPLIT AND
COMBINATION PROCESS
The City Council adopted Ordinance § 152.031, establishing an administrative process for simple lot splits and lot combinations within the city. The ordinance allows property owners to divide one parcel into no more than two lots or combine multiple parcels into one lot, provided the action does not create violations of city or state codes. The ordinance outlines application requirements, including surveys, legal descriptions, ownership documentation, fees, and review by the Zoning Administrator and City Administrator. It also establishes appeal procedures and recording requirements with the County Recorder.
This ordinance becomes effective following its publication.
A printed copy of the full ordinance is available for inspection at City Hall during regular business hours.

CITY OF MAPLETON
SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 95.31 - DOMESTICATED MINIATURE VIETNAMESE 
POT-BELLIED PIGS
The City Council adopted Ordinance§ 95.31 regulating the keeping of domesticated miniature Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs and teacup pigs within the city. The ordinance allows residents to keep up to two such animals per household with a city-issued permit. Permit applicants must meet requirements including vaccination documentation, neighboring property consent or minimum distance standards, payment of permit fees, and compliance with all permit conditions.
The ordinance establishes standards for enforcement, complaint investigation, permit revocation, and appeal procedures to protect public health, safety, and welfare. Permits are valid for one year unless revoked for noncompliance.
This ordinance becomes effective following its publication.
