Monday, May 11, 2026
Maple River School, Board Room
The Maple River school board meeting was called to order at 6 pm. Members present were Joe Sohre, Dan Sohre, Karson Duncanson, Julie Lux, Andrea Sonnek, Noah Germo, Tyler Hunstad, Business Manager Heine, and Superintendent Anderson. Also attending were: Brian Sader, Mike Sheely, Teacher, Sandy Stencel, Teacher and Retiree, Steve Stenzel, Steve Schutte, Maple River Messenger, Abbie Osmundson, Kindergarten Teacher and MREA, Lanie Covey, Music Booster, Lori Feldmann, Music Booster, Angie Caven, Music Booster, Marissa Pfeffer, Music Booster, Nancy McCue, Music Booster, Harold Ryan, and Tessa Hayes
The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Motion was made by Tyler Hunstad to approve the agenda/additions.
Seconded by Joe Sohre. Motion carried.
Community Comment:
Band/Music Booster discussed concerns with changes going forward with the Music department.
Recognition of Retirees:

Motion made by Joe Sohre to correct/approve the Minutes of April 13, 2026, School Board Meeting. Seconded by Tyler Hunstad. Motion carried.
Motion made by Noah Germo to approve the bills in the amount of $1,403,392.54. Seconded by Tyler Hunstad. Motion carried.
Motion made by Noah Germo to approve the treasurer’s report. Seconded by Julie Lux. Motion carried.
Board Report: Mike Sheely, Ag Department
This is Mike’s 14th year at Maple River as a teacher. The Ag department starts offering Ag classes in the 7th grade. Students learn skills to be home owners. One of six schools in the state to offer Mechatronics, Landscaping, and Digital Fabrication. Gardening class FFA has 100 students competing in Regionals or above. Eight teams, one in the top five. Four teams won State this year.
Budget Discussion, Lindsey Heine
Motion made by Noah Germo to approve Capital Outlay Budget. Seconded by Joe Sohre. Motion carried.
Motion made by Joe Sohre to approve agreement with Teresa Rome – Third Party Billing for the 26-27 school year. Seconded by Noah Germo. Motion carried.

that the following donations be accepted with appreciation:
The motion for the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Noah Germo
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:

Facilities update: Have been meeting with Mammoth. Met with the Landscaping students and presented their proposals.

Graduation is scheduled for May 29, 2026, State testing is over. The Boys Track and Field qualified for State True Team meet.
